cannot manage email accounts on Windows 10 mail app..

When I go into safe mode with network there is no access to internet. Thus cannot access email. System tells me that cannot access in internet in safe mode.

  4. Cannot access internet

Hi Harry01854 Welcome to the TenForums @Harry01854.

Could I ask what indicates that you are on?

I would start with shutting down router, wait a minute and restart.

While waiting to get a fresh start on your network on new device I would suggest a Network reset. Click Start => Setting => Network and Internet. On the right hand side, right at bottom, Network reset.

Then reconnect. For wireless you will need your password. You didn't say, are you using wired or wireless?

  5. Ken thanks for replying. When I put the cursor of the computer in task bar it says "Network 2, internet access". My DSL modem indicates I am on the Internet and when I troubleshoot, no problems and when I go to apps for connections it tells me that I am connected. Everything possible that will tell me if I'm online or not indicates that I am connected. I have already reset and that didn't help either.

  6. Can any other device access internet through your Verizon connection?

If you type ipconfig /all to a command prompt.

Then click in the command prompt window, then crtl + A, then paste into a text file and post.

You may also try issuing these commands at a command prompt(Admin)

In the following commands do not type the information in brackets, it is there to tell you what command does.

ipconfig /flushdns (Clear the dns cache)
nbtstat -RR (release and refesh NetBIOS names)
netsh int ip reset (reset ip settings)
netsh winsock reset (Reset Winsock Catalog)

  7. Ken first let me thank you for your concern Greatly appreciate it. I am going to print your suggestion and try it. Right now I am at a friends using his computer so I have to wait till I get to my place. Searching on line for help, someone also suggest to uninstall lan driver and then restart the computer and let the computer pick the driver back up and see what happens. As soon as I try both of these I will get back to you to let you know.

  8. Cannot access internet

Ken sorry for the delay. This is the info you wanted.

    Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.14393]

    (c) 2016 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
    C:\Windows\system32>ipconfig/flushdns

    Windows IP Configuration

Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

    C:\Windows\system32>nbtstat -rr

NetBIOS Names Resolution and Registration Statistics

    ----------------------------------------------------
    Resolved By Broadcast= 0
    Resolved By Name Server= 0

    Registered By Broadcast= 9
Registered By Name Server = 0

    C:\Windows\system32>netsh int ip reset

    Resetting , failed.
    Access is denied.

I'm sure I did winsock also and not sure if access denied is reply for it. Otherwise, I don't know what happened.

There's no user specified settings to be reset.

My friend has a Comcast account. We have xfinitywifi connection in our are, but you need a comcast account to log in. So he did that for me and I can get on line with wireless. But I have Verizon and it is DSL. Nothing for wireless. But still can not get on line through DSL.

  9. Okay, if wireless works at a friends house then at least you know it's working.

Thanks for the information above. The information I was looking for was output from ipconfig /all

This would tell us if you are getting IP address from router. (DHCP being enabled.)

Harry can I ask who set up router for you. Not sure of arrangements in US. Our companies here in Canada want to install router / modem most of the time, they bill and they ensure first device is on.

With DSL you usually have to place an account and password in router to get access to network. Since you know wireless works on device I would call Verizon techs. They should be able to log in and set up for you.

  10. Thanks Ken, I will contact Verizon tomorrow. I looked back and I see where it is about ipconfig/all. Strange that I missed it because I printed that section so I would remember what to do. I'll do it and post it so you'll know anyway.

I have kept all of this for future reference, it should help me some day. I'm going to do that entire thing all over again just to see what it comes up with.

Ken you have been more help than you might be aware of. Somebody like me can use all this kind of help I can get.

  13. Cannot access internet

    Glad you found problem.

The info I was looking for in contained with. Your wireless card is be identified, DHCP is enabled which means router is handing out addresses. You can see it handed out your address under IPv4.

I assume you must have picked up modem router at a store or the first individual that delivered and installed did not test.

Bottom line you will be connected. Don't forget to get a credit for the days it didn't work.

  14. Hopefully they will also give me a new modem router. No, Verizon gives you one of their own. This one is about 9 years old. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a technician that will do me justice. *Smile
