    Cannot access my wife's network computer


    My computer cannot find my wife's laptop on the network, even though they are the same make and model. One reason may be that her Microsoft username is in some places J.......@prodigy.net and others J......@proxdigy.net. Somehow this typo occurred and I have no clue how to correct it. It appears correctly in user accounts, but when I look at devices, her computer is not shown, but a media device under the J......@proxdigy.net does appear. Suggestions, anyone?

    One computer cannot access other network computers.


    So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:
    • Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
    • Ran a bunch of network commands:
      • flushed DNS
      • registered dns
      • pinged and located the named computers successfully
    • Reset my router to factory settings

    Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks sml156 for your help.

    I log in without my Microsoft account. File Explorer > Network, lists 3 computers, mine, my wife's and our Ubuntu that we use for backup. None of the listed computers has a shared folder that I can find, by clicking or right clicking.

    My wife's computer lists 3 locations, clicking on my computer shows my HP Laserjet printer which is connected to the network.

    When I click my computer there's a Share Tab, clicking that and everything is grayed, on my wife's there's several thing that aren't grayed.

    Network permission is one of the possible reasons why you can't access a drive within a network. To better assist you, we the answers to the following questions:

    • Are you working with computers connected to a domain?
    • Did you make any changes on your computer prior to the issue?

    In the meantime, we suggest following the steps below to troubleshoot Shared Folders in Windows 10:

    • On the Cortana search box, type Troubleshoot
      and select the first result.
    • Scroll down and click on Shared Folders.
    • Click the Run the troubleshooter button.
