    Cannot access my windows 8 pc thorough network


    I have all my home computers in a homegroup. I recently install Windows 10 on two of my computers, one is a tablet and one is a pc. My living room pc is still running Windows 8.1.

    From my living room pc with Windows 8.1, I can access files from my windows 10 tablet and pc. However, the other way around does not work.

    So with my tablet or pc with Windows 10, I cannot access any files on my living room pc with Windows 8.1.

    I can see the the files and folders being shared but as soon as I try to open it, it says the network path was not found.

    My living room pc is a media center pc, so I need to access it. Any help. Thanks.

    Not able to access "Shared folders" on one of the PCs in my home network

    I recently purchased a PC with Windows 10 Pro. We already have a home network/homegroup, and I was successful in joining the homegroup and the network. The other two PCs at home work on Windows 7 Ultimate. I can see all three computers (including this
    new one), and they were all set up to share files/folders on the homegroup and to everyone. However, I am unable to access the files/folders on one of the networked PCs. It can access my files, but I cannot access the files on that PC. I'm not getting
    trouble with the other PC in the home network. The problem seems to be that my new Windows 10 PC cannot access just one of the Windows 7 PCs, but it can access the other one. Can anyone help?

    I have 8 pcs network. 5 pc windows 10 installed, 1pc windows 8.1 installed and 2 pcs installed with windows xp.

    Recently I have some problem in one windows 10 pc named as server.The pc is shared with all drives.

    The pc acts as a server for only sharing a excel sheet.I had Reset the pc as the pc is giving lot of errors.

    after resetting the pc the server cannot accessible from windows xp pc but I can access the server pc from all windows 10 and windows 8.1 pc.

    Before resetting the pc the server is accessible from all pcs.

    The server pc not installed antivirus and windows firewall also is off .

    I can ping from windows xp pc to server pc but when access from windows xp pc with name or ip the above error is coming.

    When I access the pc from windows xp network places the error is the server is not accessible, you may not have permission to use the network resource.

    I had already shared all drives and they are accessed from windows 10 pc but windows xp pc cannot access this share

    I solved my own problem, all I had to do was assign both my tablet and desktop with Windows 10 a static ip. I first tried it on the tablet and it finally was able to connect to my windows 8 desktop in my living room. Then I assigned a static ip to my desktop and it after it was able to connect to my living desktop.

    If you are doing this on tablet or laptop with wifi, after assigning a static ip, it will tell you that dhcp needs to be fixed. Don't do it, dhcp is what assigned dynamic ip to your device. Just close it. Next I went to my router and assigned my desktop and tablet a static ip as well.

    This fixed my problem on both my tablet and desktop. Changing to static ip is challenging though.
