Windows 10: Cannot access safe mode with correct password

I am trying to reboot my computer Dell XPS 13 running Windows 10 in safe mode to attempt to fix a separateissue caused by a forced OS update. However, when I finally get to the safe mode login screen a pain because I have to enter my 48-digit Bitlocker recovery key to even get to that point, it repeatedly tells me my password is incorrect. My password is not incorrect. I reset my Microsoft password using another device specifically because of this issue. I amnot entering my PIN. I am entering my verified, quadruple-checkedcorrect Microsoft password and it keeps telling me the password is incorrect. I have tried using both safe mode 4 and safe mode with networking 5 and get the same result.


How can I fix this? I need to be able to access and use safe mode.

Window 10 unable to login with normal and safe mode with correct password

Hi Team,

Today i stuck to login on windows 10 with correct password, i follow same on safe mode but it does not work.

I tried with safe mode with Network but no luck.. Below steps i followed for safe mode...

Troubleshoot> Advanced Options> Startup Settings> Restart>Safe Mode with Networking.O

Here i re-enter the password and it doesn't work.

Please suggest...

I have same issue.

When restarting in Safe Mode I encounter the usual logon format but this time it asks for the password not the PIN which is used on normal starts.

Whilst in Safe Mode the password and PIN are shown as being "incorrect".

I have searched this site before and found the response from Engelsen Fad dated Feb 4 2017 which I have tried without success.

What else can I do?? I need to be in safe mode but I am prevented by Windows10.

To isolate the concern, we suggest that you reset the password of your Microsoft account through this link before re-attempting to sign in.

You may also follow the steps below to make sure that you are typing the correct password.

1. Restart your PC. When you reach the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key and select the Power button, and then select Restart.
   
2. After your PC restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options >Startup settings > Restart. After your PC restarts, you should see a number of options. Press 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with networking.
   
3. When you reach login screen, press Windows + U and select the On-Screen Keyboard from the Ease of Access list. or click on Ease of Access at bottom right and select On-Screen Keyboard from
   the list.
   
4. Then use you cursor to type the password with On-Screen Keyboard.
   
5. Before clicking the login, press the eye symbol (I.e. Reveal Password) option in the password field, to see the password is correct.

Password not accepted in Safe mode

Have you tried all the above steps suggested by Sangeeta Sarkar on September 13, 2015.

I would suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

• Are you trying to login the Microsoft account or the Local account in safe mode?
• Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
• What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking.

• 
  At the login screen click on the power symbol.
  
• 
  Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.
  
• 
  After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
  
• 
  Select advanced options under
  Troubleshoot screen.
  
• 
  Click on Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
  Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.
