Windows 10: Cannot Access VPN over internet remote location but can over LAN.

<p>So I setup SSTP VPN on a fresh installed windows server 2016, I followed the video guide below;</p><p></p><p>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NINcZ-2H2YY&amp;t=1437s</p><p></p><p>at the end... I can connect to the VPN Sever without a problem within my LAN network with my laptop Win10 Pro.. but if I take the same laptop to a different location using a different internet connection, I get the "Cannot connect to VPN Connection; The remote connection was not made because the name of the remote access server did not resolve".</p><p></p><p>So I read somewhere that you need to put the external ip instead in order to connect but I'm not very clear on this can anyone please explain more on how to connect from a remote location?</p><p></p><p>I really don't know much about VPN and most guides are not very thorough.</p><p></p><p>Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.</p>

VPN for LAN/Internet Gaming

I was trying to get Empire Earth to work over Internet but it appears the master servers are down for the count. The only way to play the game now is via LAN which I confirmed did work; however, it would be nice to play with a friend over the Internet so he doesn't have to come over here and I think VPN can do that. Unfortunately, I don't know much more about VPN than what it stands for...

Anyone got suggestsions for VPN software to achieve what am I trying to achieve (LAN over Internet)? I'd prefer free because it probably won't get used more than once a month.

VPN and remote access

Hello all,

It is possible to VPN to a secondary network while using my local network's internet connection AND keep the ability to remote to machines on the secondary network? Accomplishing the first two steps in not and issue.
