Windows 10: Cannot Access Windows 10 Pro Product Key

I have recently purchased an upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 10 Home so that I can use remote desktop features. I made the purchase on my desktop PC through the Microsoft Store, which led directly to installation.


When I attempt to install the upgrade on my laptop, the Microsoft Store asks me to purchase another Pro upgrade or enter an existing product key. The suggested location to find this key is in my Microsoft Account Order History. My order of Windows 10 Pro appears here but does not display any product key. The order contains one clickable link - Windows 10 Pro on the order leads to a broken link 404.


What am I missing here? How may I work around this? Very disappointed having just purchased a product I cannot fully use.

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

 

Why was I not asked for a product key when upgrading to Win 10?

According to your spec you have Win 10 Pro, but perhaps that doesn't reflect your PC.

You haven't stated which edition of Win 10 you have on this machine, nor what your Win 10 key is for.

For example, if you already have Win 10 Pro and your key is Win 10 Home, that would be a retrograde step.

Can't upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro

I suggest you to download and create an installation media for Windows 10 Pro form the link provided below:

Download Windows 10

After the installation media is created, suggest you to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from the installation media. When the upgrade asks for product key, enter the product key purchased for Windows 10 Pro. If it does not accept, suggest you to skip the activation
step. After the Operating System is installed, suggest you to activate by phone by following the steps below:

• Press “Windows key + R” and type “slui 4” and press Enter.
• Select the Region from the list and click Next.
• Call the Toll-Free number provided on top and can activate via phone.
