Windows 10: Cannot Add Another User--Windows 10 Home

Windows 10 Home, updated to latest update.


I want to set up a separate administrator account and change my own account to a standard user account. I go through Settings/Accounts/Family & other users/add someone else to this PC/I don't have this person's login information/Add user without a Microsoft account. At this point, I am given the opportunity to enter the username and password. However, when I try to type in the username, the page will not permit typing. I've restarted my computer twice, with the same result. As you can see, my keyboard works just fine, or I would be able to type this question.


How do I add another user to my PC?

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Current active users that are friends

The other reason I suggested this is that users can add characters to their username that are not alphanumeric (e.g. user*). This confuses things somewhat when looking at the list.
