Cannot add folders to backup (Win10 Pro-1909)

I recently noticed my backup drive was full. I don't know exactly how this happened, but there was an excessive amount of disk space being used to backup files from the c: drive (which is a 250Gb). The space taken up on the backup drive was on the order of 350Gb (it is on a different Win 10 desktop); it is a 500Gb drive. I could see that it was backup up more than I intended, so I deleted the backed up files on the back up drive, creating over 350Gb of free space on the drive. I also purchased another backup drive (4Tb on the same machine). The reason I purchased the new drive is that I found in removing some of the backed up folders, I could then not add back any folders. Same thing happened with the new drive. When I first set it up as the backup drive, Win 10 automatically selected the folders to be backed up (about 10 of them). Most of those I didn't want, so I removed things I didn't want backed up and then tried to add back folders that I did want backed up. As things stand now, I can add the "C:\Users\Public" folder to the backup list, but I cannot add "C:\Users\Stan\Documents", which is what I most need backup up.
Why can't I add this folder to backup?

    :)

  2. Cannot 'add folder' to Backup, error code 0x80070032 (Win10)

    Hi,

Is the external drive a NTFS format?

The custom library files that are stored in your user profile will not be backed up.

Try the following suggestions and check.

    • Move the library folder from the user profile path to a location outside the user profile path. For example, move the folder to the C:\MyLibraries folder.
    • Exclude the library from the list of files that Windows Backup backs up. Then, include the original location of the content in the library in the backup list.
    • Move the library folder to a location other than the user profile folder. Then, add a link to the moved folder from the library. Make sure that the library is included in the backup.
    Hope this helps.
