    Cannot allocate drive: Vistual Disk Manager: The parameter is incorrect


    I had to reformat and to a clean reinstall on my system. I currently have 2 m.2 drive and a few SSDs 1TB for OS and 250 MB for additional data.When to reallocate the 250 MB drive, I end up with the error message.System is:ADATA SX6000NP drive at faultIntel Core i7 10700KGigabyte Z490 Aorus Ultra32 GB DDR4 4000RTX 2060

    Trying to change Drive letter throws error:

    What is causing this and how is it fixed please?

    Hi,

    The error "This Parameter is incorrect" usually happens because of a system or disk errors. To isolate this issue, we suggest running CHKDSK using the command prompt. Running CHKDSK
    can check the integrity of a hard disk and can repair various file system errors. To run CHKDSK follow these steps:

    • Plug in external hard drive, USB drive or memory card to the computer.
    • Press Windows Key + X and then select Command Prompt (Admin).
    • In the Command Prompt window, type chkdsk E: /f /r. You should replace E with the drive letter of your external hard drive or external device.
    • Restart your PC once the process is done.

    USB Drive The Parameter is incorrect

    I have upgraded from Window 7 to Win 10. Great love it! Unfortunately my 2 x 3Tb Western digital USB drives cannot be read. I receive the message "The parameter is incorrect". In Disk management the drives are active but marked as RAW.

    If I try them on a different machine also running Win 10 they are fine & Disk management shows then as NTFS.

    I have tried to rename the drives, even tried to do a full format on one. Left for over 24 hours but the format fauled.

    Desperately seeking a solution. I need these drives to work on my PC or I'll have to revert back to Win 7.
