Windows 10: Cannot allocate needed amount of RAM to Hyper-V machine, although host has more than enough...

Windows 10 version 1809 x64 running on the host PC; while attempting to start a VM in Hyper-V that has 16GB starting RAM, and the host has 112GB free, the VM cannot start producing a 0x800705AA error message linked to inability to allocate those 16GB of RAM !. What gives? TIA!

Hyperv Machine Allocated ram keeps changing

To the best of my recollection, Hyper-V includes a Dynamic Memory Feature, which I believe could be the reason for its automatic reduction. This functionality permits the virtual machine's allocated memory to adjust dynamically within the specified range.

If you want to keep the RAM allocation constant, you can try disabling the Dynamic Memory feature. Here’s how you can do it:

1. Right-click on the virtual machine showing the memory error, then select Settings.

2. Click on Memory and locate the Dynamic Memory tab on the right pane of the screen.

3. Uncheck the box for Enable Dynamic Memory.

Please note that allocating RAM also allocates disk space in Hyper-V. This is a feature to ensure there is enough disk space to hold the RAM. In case of a problem, the contents of the RAM are simply dumped into the disk to record the virtual machine’s state.
