Windows 10: Cannot attach files to my emails

Hi,


For the last few days I have had trouble attaching files to my emails. I compose an email, click the attachment icon, get into File Explorer, click on the document I want to attach, and then it freezes.


I get a 'Not Responding' error and the prompt to close the program or wait for the program to respond. Neither helps, and the email application shuts down.


I have tried attaching different documents Word, PPT, and the same thing happens. Images and PDF's seem to attach though.


I typically use eM Client for my multiple email addresses, but also use Windows Mail. Same thing happens in both applications. For my Gmail addresses, I tried opening up Gmail in my browser and attaching from within Gmail itself, and that also fails. Edge doesn't respond in a new tab which I close, but Edge and Gmail stays open. I tried downloading another email client Mailbird, and that also fails to respond and shuts down.


When I open File Explorer and right-click share the document I want to send, it will attach it in Windows Mail and is fine to send.


Really frustrating as I need to respond to email chains with attachments, and I don't want to have to create new email strains just in order to send attachments.


FYI I tend to use WPS Office as my default option, although I am subscribed to Office 365. I tried changing the default app to Office to see if this was the issue, but no luck.


Please let me know of any possible solutions.


FYI I have updated Windows, and tried restarting my PC, but to no avail.

To attach a document file on an email, you can follow the step given below:

For Windows 10 Mobile:

• Launch to File Explorer app.
• Press and hold the file that you need to attach on the email, and select
  Share button.
• Select Outlook Mail on the suggested applications.

For Windows Phone 8.1:

• Download and install
  Files app.
• Launch Files app.
• Tap and hold the document that you need to attach on the email, and select
  Share button.
• Select the Mail app on the suggested applications.

Cannot attach files to email

Please reply to the questions mentioned below in order to assist you in a better way.

• Do you get any error message when you cannot attach the files?
• Did you make any changes prior to the issue?

Turning off block pop ups may help in getting the issue fixed.

• Can you successfully send an email with no attachment?
