  1. Cannot boot into Windows 11, which happened when I was doing a Clean Installation

I have a USB set up to do a Clean Installation. because I want to change Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Home. After going through several steps of the custom installation option, the computer told me that I did not have enough space, even though Drive 0, Partition 3 had 117 GB of space. The computer asked me if I wanted to erase the Drive or partition. I forget which I said yes. Then the problem began. When I rebooted the computer, I get a message, “Your device needs to be repaired.” Error 0xc000034.] By the way, I have a Dell Inspiron 3880&n

  2. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

    Window 11 Clean Install

    Hello everyone,

I purchased a prebuilt gaming PC this November from iBuyPower (same components as shown here: Custom PC Builder: iBUYPOWER® ). Yesterday, I was trying to reset the PC using the recovery settings. When the computer boots up I see the option to troubleshoot or turn off the PC. However, clicking troubleshoot only shows "advanced options" and doesn't let me reset. The computer shows a message that windows could not reset once the computer starts again.

With this happening, I took a look into doing a clean installation of windows 11. I followed the instructions listed by Kapil Arya here:

Redirecting on step 3, I was not asked to activate windows. I accepted the license terms (5) and chose custom installation (6). Once on step 7, I was not able to see the drive. I saw an article by Andre Da Costa to press "Shift + F10" and then follow the diskpart list volume to check for the drive, but the storage drive is not found while installing windows. I used Intel driver and support assistant to put all my drivers up to date but I continue to not find the storage drive during clean install and not being able to reset from the recovery settings.

iBuyPower says that the reset can happen by doing the recovery settings steps, but I cannot reset.

Any help or guidance is really appreciated.

    Thank you for your time!

    Windows Vista Clean Installation

To do a clean install on a fresh hard drive with Vista on an upgrade disc, you have to follow certain steps. Buying a full install CD would've been easier, but using the upgrade disc only adds more time, so it's not that big of a deal.

Follow the instructions here to do a clean install with an upgrade disc: Perform a Clean Install with a Vista Upgrade Disc - Windows Vista Tips / Tricks /Tutorials | Vista Rewired
