Cannot change audio level after Windows Update

A little over a month ago, I updated Windows and I could no longer change my volume. Using the buttons on the laptop or manually moving the slide using the mouse pointer achieves the same result; the slide bar moves but no change in volume. Volume is always at max. Muting the sound does work.I tried to uninstall Windows Updates, I was unsuccessful.I did a clean install of Windows, this fixed the issue.About a week ago, I accidentally did a Windows Update and the problem returned.I have done a clean install of Windows twice and the problem still exists. Please help!

No audio in 'Asphalt 7: Heat'

    Hi Moezul,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Does the audio work in other applications?

If you are not able to hear the audio in any applications. I would suggest to check with the steps below and see if it resolves your issue.

    Steps:

    1. Check if the audio driver is updated. Follow the steps mentioned in the article to update audio drivers.

      Update drivers in Windows 10

    2. The issue can occur if the appropriate playback device is not selected. Click the
Sound icon (bottom right corner of the screen), click Playback device and select the appropriate device from the menu.
    3. Check the In-game audio settings to confirm if the sound is turned
      on.
    4. Check the Volume levels in the system's Volume Mixer to confirm that it is not turned
off and the levels are appropriate. Right click on the Sound icon and select
Open volume mixer. Adjust the settings as per your requirements.

If the audio issue is only with the game, I would suggest to get in touch with the
    game developer
to get a confirmation on this.

    Thanks,

Audio is not working at its most basic level

    Hi,

Please reply, did you check if the audio is set to minimum volume on the device?

Check if the volume on the device is set to minimum. If the volume bar is set to maximum and the issue still persists, follow the steps below to check if the audio is set to mute in the audio properties of the device driver.

    • Right click on the volume icon, located at the bottom right corner of the PC and select
Playback devices from the context menu.
    • Click on the device located in the window and click on Properties.
    • Click on Levels tab from the window and check if the volume icon is disabled.
    • If yes, click on the icon to enable the settings and check if the changes are effective.

Write to us with the status of audio not working on the PC for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.
