Windows 10: Cannot change permissions for TrustedInstaller

I am on a Windows 10 machine and for some reason I can no longer manipulate basic files. Like adding a font to my font folder. I have followed the instructions several times to try and change the folder permissions from TrustedInstaller to myself. Every tutorial shows it being easy but when I follow the same exact steps and finally hit okay, I am still greeted with an "access denied" message. This idiotic addition to my computer has made it unusable for the work I need to perform.

TrustedInstaller permissions

I changed permissions and ownership on a folder in order to delete subfolders. The original owner was TrustedInstaller. Once I deleted said files I tried to change ownership back to TrustedInstaller but it wouldn't take ownership. So, I changed ownership to SYSTEM, but I'm nervous this will cause a malfunction.

Based on the initial post that you made, what you did was to give full permission to trustedinstaller. You need to change it to the admin of the computer (LAPTOP-E1UE8UMG\Administrators) instead as outlined on the last link you provided. If you are still

TrustedInstaller permissions

I didn't mess with the exe file, only changed permissions on a folder so that I could delete subfolders. When I tried to change permissions back to TrustedInstaller, it wouldn't change. But, I surmised that SYSTEM would be alright since there was no other choice to return ownership to the computer.

Anyways, there doesn't seem to be a malfunction with this change so far. I merely wanted to know if this would have detrimental effects since there's some very knowledgeable folks here on TenForums.

Here is the error message that appears when I try changing the ownership from myself to TrustedInstaller. Although ownership cannot be returned TrustedInstaller retains Full Control Access.
