    Cannot change search index locations to include C-drive

    Searching any C-drive folders on my machine was taking a long time and not returning any results always returns "No items match your search", so I am attempting to change the indexing options to include my C-drive. However, when I select it on the Indexed Locations dialog, it does not show up in the lower window and therefore is not being re-indexed. Only my D-drive a 400GB SSD drive is being indexed.

    How do I add the C-drive to the index rebuild operation?

    Here is a shot of the dialog showing that C-drive selection is not being honored:

    Windows Search - Indexed Locations wrong

    Hello,

    Thanks for the reply...

    Method 1: Indexing was already enabled for drive D:

    Mehtod 2: Why do I have the impression that I am replying to a kind of auto answering robot? Or some copy and paste solution? First of all searching for indexing options in the search bar doesn't make a lot of sense because my search is broken - so it makes
    more sense to get there through the Control Panel.

    Second the Panel in the "Indexing Panel" does not correctly identify the drives. C: is not mentionned in the Included Locations alhtough it is selected. I still did a rebuild as you suggested and rebooted (after indexing finished). Search does now work on
    D: but nohting can be searched on C:

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Marc

    Search Not Indexing Optical Drive

    Thanks,

    • When you mentioned D Drive, are you pertaining to a partition or a separate external drive? - D Drive = Solid State Drive; 1 of 2 internal drives (the other being an optical drive);
    • Were you able to check if indexing was already completed? - Indexing completed on each attempt of rectification;
    • In the meantime, we suggest that you run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter - Done prior to posting; useless! It does not find any problems.

    Windows 10 Index locations not all showing up in search

    Hello,

    There might be some settings missing or corrupted.

    I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to remove the D drive from the indexing and run the indexing troubleshooter.

    Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

    • Press “Windows key + X” to click on “Control Panel”.

    • Click on “Troubleshooting” and click on “View all”.

    • Click on “Search and Indexing” to run the troubleshooter.

      Once this is done, restart the computer and check if this helps.

    Method 2:

    Re –build the indexing by adding the D drive and verify the result.

    Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.
