windows 10 IPV4 DNS Server will not change ip Address

Hi,

I downloaded windows 10 and now my IPV4 DNS server and Modem have the same address. I set DNS and IP to Auto in windows 10 and restarted. it will not change. so I can't stay on internet. can anyone Please Help me.

Are you working in a domain environment?

I would suggest you to follow the suggestion provided below in order to assign Static IP and DNS address and see if it helps.

• Use the administrator account credentials to log on to Windows 8 computer, to which static IP and DNS address is to be assigned.
• Click Desktop tile from the Start screen to go to the desktop.
• Once on the desktop screen, hover mouse to the bottom right corner of the window.
• From the displayed options in the right, click Settings.
• Click Control Panel from the Settings pane.
• On Control Panel window, click Network and Internet.
• From the right pane of Network and Internet window, click
  Network and Sharing Center category.
  
  
  
  
  Click Network and Sharing Center
  
• From the left pane of Network and Sharing Center window, click
  Change adapter settings.
  
  
  
  
  Click Change Adapter Settings
  
• On Network Connections window, right-click the network adapter on which static IP and DNS address is to be configured.
• From the context menu that appears, click Properties.
• On network adapter’s properties box, double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

  Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
  
• On Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties box, click to select
  Use the following IP address radio button.
• Once selected, specify the static IP and the subnet mask in the enabled
  IP address and Subnet mask fields respectively.
  
  
  
  
  Specify Static IP and DNS Address
  
• In Preferred DNS server field, type the DNS address that is to be provided to the computer.
• Once done, click OK to save the modified settings.
• Back on network adapter’s properties box, click OK.
• Close all the opened windows when done.

WiFi adapter DNS address not updated

Hi. At work today I configured a WiFi connection using a static IP address, including a static DNS address (I'm a programmer). This is saved in my list of known networks. I have another 'known network' for connecting at home which is set to DHCP. When
I connected at home this evening, the DNS server I specified earlier is being used. When I open the adapter settings and open IPv4 properties, it is set to obtain address automatically.

I can specify my router's IP address as the DNS server in the IPv4 properties, which works, but I can't do this in the saved WiFi connection, as I cannot specify DHCP and assign a static DNS address.

How can I get Windows to use a static address for one network and auto assigned addresses for a different network?
