Windows 10: Cannot change USB microphone bitrate settings. Crashes window

After the October update I can no longer change the bitrate / depth on my microphone, meaning it's permanently set at "telephone quality," and sounds atrocious.


When I go to change the setting to 44100hz through the drop-down in microphone-properties and clicking apply, it says "This device is being used by another application. If you continue, that application may stop working. Do you want to continue?" It doesn't tell me what the other application is, and it also doesn't matter if I click yes or no, the window closes and my settings are not saved.


I am using an AT2020 USB and being unable to change this setting makes my microphone practically useless.


- I have just reinstalled windows this morning, after the previous update refused to install and caused hour long boot times every morning (which is why I'm just now getting around to the October update).


- There are no other programs running that I can find that could be using it


- I have tried updating / reinstalling microphone drivers and that has not worked.


- I have cortana disabled across the board, and even tried ending the process in task manager but that didn't help.


- The microphone worked perfect before the re-install, and after previous re-installs.


- Other audio devices work fine, but I don't have another USB microphone to test it out.

USB headset microphone not working

This issue could have happened due to settings of your Microphone. To resolve your issue, we suggest that you check your Microphone is not disabled and set as default. You can follow these steps to check your microphone settings:

• Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
• Now, right click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
• Select “Microphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the microphone is enabled.
• You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

Unable to Change Sample Bitrate in Windows 10 - Mackie ProFX8

Hi,

I just bought a new mixer (Mackie ProFX8), which attaches to my computer via USB. Didn't work the first time, so unplugged / replugged, and Windows detected it and automatically installed the driver (USB CODEC—no Mackie-exclusive drivers exist on their
website).

So, I'm trying to use the mixer in the audio software, and am getting an error message that the input device (this mixer, which is attached to a microphone) does not match the bitrate as the output (my headphones, 48K). I went into the Windows 10 Sound
Settings, went into Device Properties for USB CODEC, and saw that the bitrate is set to 1 channel, 44.1K). I change it to 2 channel, 48K and click Apply, but what happens is that the window closes, I still get the same error message from the software, go
back into Device Properties, and see that nothing I changed saved (it's back to 44.1K).

Seems to be a problem on Windows end. How do I fix it?

Answers to your questions:

• Yes, both are working properly before.
• Yes, i'm logged in as administrator.
• No app can use camera or microphone. All apps said to allow in the privacy setting.

And i can't really solve using the adjustment on privacy setting. 'cause as i've said before, everytime i open camera or microphone setting in privacy, the window crashes everytime.

as for the troubleshooting, it couldn't identify the problem.
