Windows 10: Cannot change Windows PIN

Hi,


I have seen other people on this forum with this issue too, however I have tried the solutions and they do not work.


I have always used fingerprint login with PIN backup login. Recently I have decided I want to change my PIN number, however when I go to settings, I find the Windows PIN has been replaced by this "Windows Hello PIN". When I click on it to "fix it" it takes me through my Work organisation account, which I do not want. I want it through my Personal account as this is my personal laptop as another has already mentioned. See screenshot:






What I have already tried:


1 I cannot delete the NGC folder, as it does not exist on my computer. I do not have the ServiceProfiles folder:

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC


2 I do not have Windows 10 Pro installed, I have Windows Home version 1903


3 The DWORD value in the following location is ALREADY set to 1.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\Settings\AllowSignInOptions.



None of the solutions in the other threads have solved this problem.


Why is something so simple as changing your PIN so difficult?

I suggest you to go through the below steps and check if it helps.

Follow these steps to set up a PIN on your Windows User Account:

• 
  Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
  
• 
  Type the word pin into the Search box, then click
  Set up PIN sign-in.
  
• 
  Find the “PIN” section and click the Add button.
  
• 
  Type in the password for your User Account, then click the
  Ok button.
  
• 
  Select and enter a 4 digit numeric pin, then enter it again for confirmation.
  
• 
  Exit the PIN setup utility.
  

From now on you’ll be able to log in to your Windows account by entering your 4 digit PIN instead of your password.



You can change your PIN at any time by following the steps below:

• 
  Press the Windows +S key combination to display the Search box.
  
• 
  Type the word pin into the Search box, then click Set up PIN sign-in.
  
• 
  Find the “PIN” section and click the Change button.
  
• 
  Enter your Windows password, then click the
  Ok button.
  
• 
  Select and enter a new 4 digit numeric pin, then enter it again for confirmation.
  
• 
  Click the Finish button.
  
• 
  Exit the PIN setup utility.

PIN at start up

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the below steps how to Change PIN password:

• In the search box, type settings.
• Then Click on accounts.
• Then on the left hand side click on sign in options.
• Then you can Select Change PIN password and remove the pin.

  What exactly happens when you try to change the pin?
  
• 
  Are you getting any error message?
  

I suggest you to follow the steps below to reset the password and check if it helps.

You can reset your PIN by going to Settings >Accounts >
Sign-in options and clicking on “I forgot my PIN”.

Note: that the PINs for all users on the device must be reset this way for any PIN.
