Cannot clear "Connect Automatically" box for networks showing in network search window.

No matter how many times I clear the "Connect Automatically" box on my PC, Windows 10 checks the box again. This makes no sense! The default setting should never be to attempt to an network unless I select it. What idiot in the development team decided the default should be to automatically connect to every network that appears in the search window? It defies logic!

This probably a decision made by the same team that grouped my downloads by date and then prevented users from making any changes. So many "features" are forced on user that aren't asked for, aren't needed and aren't wanted. I just don't understand why setting like this keep coming along. I shouldn't have to search for fixes after every update comes out!

    :)

  2. Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

    2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

    3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

    4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

I Hope you solve out your query soon.

    Automatic Network Connection

I only want to automatically connect to ONE wifi network, my home wifi. However, I keep getting knocked offline because my computer is automatically connecting to ALL nearby networks listed, ones that are not “known” so I cannot forget/remove them via
network settings. I have unchecked the “automatically connect” box from all of the unwanted networks; however, the moment I minimize the network list the boxes are automatically rechecked. There has to be a solution. Please help.

Windows 10: Disable automatic connection of a wireless network

    Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

If you have not tried this then you may follow these steps to test if that helps:

    • Open "Network and Sharing Center".

    • On the left pane, click on the option "Manage wireless networks”.

    • Look for those networks where the Security is "Unsecured." Right-click on an unsecured network, then click on "Properties”.

    • Make sure that the box next to "Connect automatically when this network is in range," is not checked. Then click on "OK" to save your settings. Repeat the steps to uncheck the box for any other unsecured networks on the list.

Keep us informed to help you further.
