Windows 10: Cannot connect new Win11 laptop to network printer

I have a new Dell Inspiron 15 3250. I have been unable to connect this PC to my network printer. I have a Dell PC and an ASUS laptop both running WIN 10 that share the printer and see each other on the Wi-Fi network.I have tried the various fixes using the advanced sharing features. Current settings are Private networks: Network discovery, file and printer sharing both ON, Set up network connected devices automatically CHECKED. Public networks: Network discovery and file and printer sharing both OFF. All Networks: Public folder sharing ON, 128 bit encryption on and Password protected shar

Printer visible on network but can't connect

Well I had done all of the suggested steps but in wrong order. I updated router firmware, but still couldn't see printer. When I then reinstalled the new driver I had downloaded, it located the printer and all is now running fine. How complex this can get!

1. Open Admin command and type: ipconfig
   
   
   
2. Win+X->Control Panel->Netwok and Sharing Center
   Follow the screen shot. This should disable internet access from this PC but allows access to local device(s)
   NOTE: Use the IP & Subnet Mask from step 1. Leave Default gateway & DNS Server blank
   
   
   

 

Shared printer shows on network but will not connect - Windows 11

My Win 11 machine was connecting OK to a printer on another machine on the network. After update KB5020622 (22H) the printer no longer shows on the list of printers and will not reinstall.

This is what I've done...

• Added the latest Win11 driver from the manufacturer's site
  
• Gone to Devices
  
• "Add Manually"
  
• "Browse"
  
• The host PC was shown and clicking on the icon showed the printer
  
• Selected the printer
  
• Saw a green bar and an alert saying "Windows cannot connect to printer. No printer found"
  

At the same time I connected to the printer using another machine on the network, so the problem must lie with the Win11 machine.
