Windows 10: Cannot connect to Microsoft wsus

Trying to build a gold image of win 10 1909 using an mdt build and capture task sequence.


successfully created a fully patched wim with multiple applications on it and successfully deployed it via SCCCM to a virtual machine in Hyper v

used iso 1909.3


The newly imaged workstation seems fully functional, and is able to connect to our on prem sccm wsus point.

It is not able to connect with the Microsoft wsus point, giving a x80240437 error


tried numerous things to try and resolve.

Space is not an issue.

Tried mid task sequence prior to installing applications - same result

Tried to restore health using DISM

Renamed software distribution folders and catroot2

ran sfc/scannow

Tried starting over using iso 1909.1


am at a loss for what to try next


any help would be appreciated

I'll see if I can look at my setup later and help you out. *Smile It should be possible to go into the WSUS configuration panel and change the database that it connects to. I can't remember off the top of my head.

In the meantime, you might want to look at the Microsoft manual that I pointed to in my OP, for a faster resolution.

EDIT: I looked at the WSUS configuration (Options) window, but there doesn't seem to be a way of changing the database connection there. It might be a case of having to reinstall it each time, or doing it a different way. More digging is going to be required. *Smile

update on my install, i ad everything working inside a VM with 2 disk , when i moved it to the local vm machine WSUS would not work anymore , something do to with database error, sadly have not found a way to tell WSUS where the database is ....
on the new machine its still in the root of d:\ this as not changed so i don't know why WSUS can't connect to his database *Frown
