Windows 10: Cannot connect to open/public WiFi networks after updates

Good Morning.



I have been having issues connecting to any open/public wifi network after recent Windows automatic updates to my laptop. Prior to mid-February, I was able to connect to these networks, but immediately following these updates, I can no longer connect. I have tried all the steps listed within the following help topic: https://support.microsoft.com/en-sg/help/10741/windows-fix-network-connection-issues, I attempted to uninstall all the most recent security pack updates released this month, but could not roll back past the most recent as it would reinstall upon restart. I ran the Microsoft uninstall program tool to try and remove the most current packs with no luck.


The issue is with any open/public network. I can connect to secure networks such as my home wireless, or password protected hotspot with no issues (see attached images)




As stated above, I have followed all the steps within the troubleshooting link above, as well as completely uninstalled 3rd party anti-virus and did a fresh reinstall of windows on my device.


Oh, my android based smartphone and the guy using his MacBook next to me hasn't had any of the issues I am over the past 2 weeks.

• Are you able to connect your phone to other public WiFi hotspot?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Windows 10 not connecting to public wifi

Let me verify some information to help us sort out this issue regarding connecting to a public. Allow me to ask the following:

• Were you able to connect to your company's public wifi before?
• Can your tablet connect to a different public wifi?
• Is Airplane mode disabled on your tablet?

Before looking into the other settings, please make sure that the Airplane mode is turned off on your tablet, then try to reconnect. If you're able to connect to your company's wifi before, then I suggest that you forget the network from your tablet first
before you reconnect to it. Just navigate to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks > select the company's wifi, then hit
Forget. Once done, reconnect to the network and see if it works. If not, reboot or restart your tablet and try again.

Please update this thread with the result so we can further check on it if the issue persists.

configure two network type wifi public and Ethernet private


Hello,

I have two network adapters in Windows 10 one wifi for connecting to internet and one Ethernet for local network.
I need to configure wifi adapter to public network and Ethernet to private network but i can't.

Inverse it work ( wifi to private and Ethernet to public ) but I don't need that.
(only wifi adapter have option to be discoverable by others pd in Network Settings -> advanced options )


I need to share files by Ethernet AND NOT by wifi.

Any suggestion?
