Windows 10: Cannot connect to Remote Desktop from macOS Client

I tried to connect RDP session on Windows 11 Pro Virtual Machine from my macOS RDP Client Version 10.8.4 2111.My VM is running on VMWare Fusion Player Version 13.0.2 21581413. My Windows 11 version is 22H2 22621.1848.My VM is using bridged connection with separate local IP on my home network.When I add the gateway with the IP of my VM and RDP port, I can see the prompt of RDP account and password, but after I continue with unverified root certificate, I still see the error with error code 0x3000079."We couldn't connect to the Remote Desktop Gateway because of an internal error. Yep. No doubt. That will work; however, firewall on or off on the Home Edition will make no difference if you are trying to connect to it via straight remote desktop as it does not have the feature necessary to accept an unattended incoming remote desktop
service connection.



The Windows __ Home Editions have always had the CLIENT portion of the Remote Desktop Services.

START --> RUN --> type in:



MSTSC

... Click OK.

That is the Remote Desktop Client. All Windows OSes have that.

Just not all Windows OS editions have the HOST/SERVER part - the part that allows one, with the remote system unattended, to remotely connect like you were sitting in front of it. The "Home" (and "starter / RT, etc. - other lower editions) editions are practically
the ONLY editions of Windows that fall in this category (and always have.)

Android and MacOS have downloadable (official) Microsoft Remote Desktop Clients available so you can remote into your business/professional/server level Microsoft systems (unattended systems that is - again, remote assistance is allowed even on "Home" editions)...

Again, sorry... but there are many free third party alternatives.

You will need to analyse the various stages that form part of the remote desktop connection. This will require some time and patience.

A remote desktop connection consists of these components:

• A host (which must run Windows Professional). This is the machine that you wish to control.
• A client (which can run any version of Windows). This is the machine that you work on.
• A link that connects the client with the host.

Is the host on the same network as the client or is it on a different network?
