Windows 10: Cannot connect to Ubuntu server from Windows 10 via ssh

Hello,


I have a raspberry pie running ubuntu server 2020 and would like to connect to it via ssh directly from Windows 10. In order, for instance, to mount an ftp and view, edit directly files with vscode or atom without going through WSL.


While I have no problem connecting to it from WSL Ubuntu after configuration; I cannot directly from Windows 10.

From WSL, everything works seamless: short ping, stable ssh connection with authentication.
From Windows, ssh -vvv command fails debug3: finish_connect - ERROR: async io completed with error: 10013, ping fails General Failure, Putty as well Network error: permission denied

Tried so far all the following:
- Reinstall openssh on windows following this guide https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/openssh/openssh_install_firstuse,
- Network and Firewall reset,

- Deactivating anti-virus,

- Adding Port 22 Exception Rules to Firewall for TCP communication Inbound & Outbound


Raspberry is on same private network 192.168.X, and discovery is allowed on windows side.


Many posts can be found with similar issues, so it must be common; but every answer I found so far did not work in my case.

SSH to Ubuntu using Windows 10

When I understand right you are trying to connect from bash on Ubuntu on windows to your amazon ubuntu server.

1. I am not using putty with pem files but the standard way to provide login without password is an rsa key (see at digitalocean Tutorials:- How To Set Up SSH Keys)
   
2. The error message points out the pem file are not accessible. So the first steps are to make sure the file is there (or you can copy it to your home directory for testing purposes) and is accessible.
   

 

SSH client/server? VPN? RDP?

Howdy,



I run OpenSSH client and server on my N900. I use the SSH server connect into my N900 and control it via the x11vnc server.



I also use OpenConnect VPN client to connect into my Cisco ASA firewall using SSL VPN. I sometimes use rdesktop to RDP to Widows machines on the network.



All of these programs are on the Maemo Extras-Devel repository.
