Windows 10: Cannot connect to Windows Server VPN with error "The certificate's CN name does not match...

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this question, i'm not sure where else to go for answers at this point. I am using Win Server 2019, and have tried setting up a VPN server for remote connection through SSTP. I cannot connect to the VPN for some reason, every time I connect I get this error "The certificate's CN name does not match the passed value." I have set up the certificates properly with CA Enterprise, set up the website through IIS and downloaded the certificate from that website, and I still get this error and so does my friend with the same certificate on a separate network

How To Create A VPN Server Certificate?

I have one VPN Client that uses SSTP connection to my VPN Server, but it requires a certificate from the VPN Server and i don't know how to create it.

I have this error 0x800B0109:

"A Certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider"

 

CN mismatch override in Windows 10 VPN client

I'm trying to connect to a VPN server using Windows 10 in-built client only. Since it's using SSTP it uses a certificate. The server is vpn.x.edu, while the certificate shows *.x.edu. That's apparently a problem as Windows 10 reports: "the certificate's CN name does not match the passed value".

A third party tool where I can use it simply asks me if I want to accept the connection anyway, but Windows 10 tool doesn't. I cannot find a way to override this. Is there any?

 

Error: 788, when connecting to L2TP VPN

Hi there, recently I got this error when connecting to "L2TP/IPSec with certificate" VPN. I'm not sure what cause this.

I have already follow some of this steps with no luck :

• Adding AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule
• Restarting both IKE and IPSec services
• Allowing both CHAP and MS-CHAP v2
• Reset network connection
• Connect to different provider
• Re-adding VPN settings
