Windows 10: Cannot control Volume when with Headphones

When I'm with my Headphones I can't control the volume in any way, like increasing/decrasing or muting it. When I ues the volum adjuster keys on the keybar the volume bar pops in but the number and volume doesn't change. When i try to ajust the volume on the task bar it goes back to how it previously was. When I try to change the volum bar on Config the number does change but a sound plays and the volume doesn't actually change. When I remove the headphone everything works just fine

Lumia 950 headphone volume control not working

Hi,

I tried headphones with volume control (Samsung EO-EG920B, I suppose they are AHJ standard, but I could not find any specifications) on my Lumia 950 XL. Everything works fine (speakers, mic, play/pause, volume down) except the volume up which makes the volume
go down. The headphones works correctly on Samsung Galaxy SIII. I could not find any specification or list of supported headsets for headset for Lumia 950, so I do not know how to solve the problem.

The issue with volume control could have happened due to the corrupted or outdated driver. To resolve your issue, we suggest that you follow the 2 methods below:

Method 1: Run the Audio Troubleshooter on the system.



Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. We would suggest you run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio



Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key+X, select Control panel.
• Change the view as an option on the top right to Large icons.
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the playing Audio troubleshooter

Method 2. Uninstall and reinstall the latest drivers from the manufacturer website.

Follow the steps to update the audio drivers:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the Sound, Video and game controllers.
• Right-click on the Sound card and click on Uninstall.
• Install the latest audio driver from the manufacturer website.

Volumes for headphones and speakers are separate

1. Are you changing the volume on headphone or from the sound icon in the taskbar of the system?

2. How are you trying to change the speaker volume?

I suggest you to run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.

Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Also try to download and install the latest chipset and Sound drivers from the manufacturer website and install the same.
