Windows 10: Cannot copy or open any files in Safe Mode

Hello,


Being unable to fix my PC from having repeated Blue Screen of Death upon logging in, andno longer receiving any sufficient outside help, I decided I need to experiment with some more drastic measures, such as re-installing Windows, or ultimately buying a new PC.


Since I can run Windows in Safe Mode, and all my files are in tact, that shouldn't be an issue.


I have come to realize that the vast majority of files cannot be copied to an external drive, as it always gives me the same error message "File cannot be accessed by the system". When I try to open any file, I am similarly given an error message saying it cannot be opened, but exactly what that error message says is different depending on the file type.


This is only the case in Safe Mode. I am able to run in normal mode for short periods of time a matter of minutes, during which point there is no issue copying or opening any files. However, it would be impossible to copy all my important files to an external drive within such a short window of time.


When looking around online, it sounds like this is not supposed to be how Safe Mode works, apparently. So what can I do? If the files cannot be moved and the PC cannot be fixed, it sounds like its all lost.....


I've already run System File Check and Disk Check. The former found no errors, the latter said it found problems but wasn't able to fix them.

Boot into Safe Mode on Windows 10  


I am stuck in Safe Mode in spite of following all the suggested steps to go back to Normal Startup - Like opening file location of msconfig.exe & running as Administrator. The computer I am trying to get out of safe mode has just been updated from Windows 7.

Have you tried all the above steps suggested by Sangeeta Sarkar on September 13, 2015.

I would suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

• Are you trying to login the Microsoft account or the Local account in safe mode?
• Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
• What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking.

• 
  At the login screen click on the power symbol.
  
• 
  Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.
  
• 
  After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
  
• 
  Select advanced options under
  Troubleshoot screen.
  
• 
  Click on Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
  Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.

Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one
