Hi, I just tried reserving an app name and creating the app but got this error:Unexpected error, we couldn't complete your request. Please try again later.Correlation ID: e9bf1833-0d95-42fd-a2d4-c10a5ab1d851Repeated refreshes did not help the situation. Neither am I able to delete the app and start over.I have 2 other apps submitted to the store and have never encountered this error before.Please help! Thanks.

Microsoft is purging a lot of low quality apps from the Windows Store

"Microsoft is sending emails to some Windows Store developers informing them that their apps have been removed from the Store for violating its quality standards."

"Neowin reports that app developers have been receiving these emails over the past couple of days:

In its latest review of the Store, Microsoft is evaluating if the published apps are good enough to be listed in the Windows Store. This includes publicly available apps as well as private beta apps. Additionally, Microsoft is also asking developers to delete any promotional campaigns for their apps to prevent advertising charges. Similarly, app name reservations are also being nullified; which means that if your app is unpublished, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to republish it under the same name.

Officially, the policies for the Microsoft Store says that apps must have "distinct and informative metadata" and "provide a valuable and quality user experience". There are also some specific standards that must be in the apps, including having a name that is not similar to another app or device, along with offering a description that is accurate about its features and functions.

There have certainly been many Windows Store users who have complained over the years about the large number of apps published that are clones of other apps or ones that are simply poorly made. Hopefully, this new move by Microsoft will help to curb these issues, at least for now."

End of support on May 31 for Microsoft Band and Health Dashboard apps

Microsoft has announced the end of support for the Microsoft Health Dashboard applications and services. This document contains important dates and information regarding the end of support.

On 5/31/2019, the Microsoft Health Dashboard site will be shut down and Microsoft Band applications will be removed from the Microsoft Store, Google Play, and Apple App store.

What’s happening to the Microsoft Health Dashboard?

The Microsoft Health Dashboard applications and services are being discontinued and will no longer be available after 5/31/2019. Microsoft Band device users can continue to use their devices, though web connected features will not be available.

How can I get my data?

Users of the Microsoft Health Dashboard will be able to export their data using export tools on the site until 5/31/2019. Instructions for exporting your data are available at https://support.microsoft.com/help/4000335.

Can I transfer my data to another service or wearable?

Users of the Microsoft Health Dashboard will be able to export their data using export tools on the site until 5/31/2019. Instructions for exporting your data are available at https://support.microsoft.com/help/4000335.

Other providers may provide capabilities to help import activity data exported from the Health Dashboard.

What happens to my data in Microsoft Health Dashboard?

All data in the Microsoft Health Dashboard will be deleted on 5/31/2019.

What happens to data on partner sites like Strava or RunKeeper?

Please refer to partner sites regarding data sync’ed to Health Dashboard partners.

I’d like to delete my data from the service, how do I do that?

Users wishing to completely delete their data from the Microsoft Health Dashboard can review the Microsoft Band Data Privacy notice at https://privacy.microsoft.com/band-phone-app-your-data.

What happens to the Phone app?

The Microsoft Band phone app will no longer work after the Health Dashboard service is disabled.

I’d like to delete my data from the phone app, how do I do that?

To delete all data from your phone

Open the Microsoft Band app and tap Menu > My Microsoft Band > Unregister your Band.

Remove the Microsoft Band app from your phone

Note that some phones back up app data in the cloud. Please check your phone settings to ensure additional copies of application data are properly removed.

Will I still be able to use my Microsoft Band?

Yes, but functionality will be limited to what’s available on the Band device. Capabilities provided by the cloud or the phone app will no longer function.

Band users will still be able to:

Record and track daily health information (daily steps, heart rate, basic workouts)

Record activity data (runs, bike rides, hikes, etc)

Track sleep

Set alarms

Note: Resetting the device after the service been discontinued will make it impossible to set up the device again. Only perform this step once you have finished using the Band.

I’d like to delete my data from the Band, how do I do that?

On your Band, tap the Settings Tile

> Power

. Then swipe left, tap Reset Device, and tap Yes when asked if you want to erase all data.

Note: Resetting the device after the service been discontinued will make it impossible to set up the device again. Only perform this step once you have finished using the Band.

Eligibility for a refund

Certain Band users will be eligible to receive a refund according to the below terms. Eligible users are users that either:

Have a Band that is covered under its Limited Warranty; OR

Are Active Users. An Active User is defined as a user who has worn the Band on their wrist and completed a data sync from the Band to the Health Dashboard between 12/1/2018 and 3/1/2019.

All eligible users will receive an email with refund instructions. Refunds will be processed for the following amounts:

Band 1: $79.99

Band 2: $175

Refunds must be claimed by 8/30/2019.

Updated Microsoft Store App Developer Agreement and Store Policies

The Microsoft Store team has updated the Microsoft Store App Developer Agreement and Microsoft Store Policies as of February 14th.

The new version (8.2) of the Microsoft Store App Developer Agreement is available here. This update is particularly relevant to developers based in New Zealand or Australia who sell apps and/or in-app products. For more info, view the change history. The next time you log in to the Dev Center dashboard, you may be prompted to accept the new agreement, depending on your account location.

We’ve also updated the Microsoft Store Policies, which you can view here. The updated policies clarify the requirements for storing or transmitting personal information, and add a new requirement stating that apps using app-specific authentication can only be published from company accounts. For more info, view the change history.
