Windows 10: Cannot create EFI system partition. Error: 0x000036B7 when running mbr2gpt.exe

I've seen similar posts about this but was not enough for me to resolve my issue.

cannot create EFI system partition. Error: 0x000036B7 when running mbr2gpt.exe Cannot find what this error means

On an ACER Aspire A315 laptop, running Windows 10, I'm trying to convert the BIOS from 'Legacy' to 'UEFI'. When I run mbr2gpt.exe I get "cannot create EFI system partition. Error: 0x000036B7".

Can someone help me please?

MBR2GPT: ValidateLayout: Too many MBR partitions found, no room to create EFI system partition.

I deleted the inactive recovery partition.

Then I ran the mbr2gpt conversion command. It was successful but I got below error:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>mbr2gpt /convert /disk:2 /allowfullos

MBR2GPT will now attempt to convert disk 2.
If conversion is successful the disk can only be booted in GPT mode.
These changes cannot be undone!

Call WinReReapir to repair WinRE

MBR2GPT: Before the new system can boot properly you need to switch the firmware to boot to UEFI mode!

So when I try to manually disable and enable winRE, I get below error:

REAGENTC.EXE: The Windows RE image was not found.

 

MBR2GPT fails with error - Cannot find room for the EFI system partition.

Regarding this image, which partition should I extend?

The problem wasn't that I didn't have enough space to update, it was the MBR2GPT error: "cannot find room for the EFI system partition"
