  1. Cannot delete 45gb MSIXVC file, about to go crazy, please help me

I'm hoping someone can help me delete this infuriating file and set of sub folders that appeared after a failed system restore... (of which I don't even know why it failed, had the space, restore point existed). C:\ System Volume Information\ SystemRestore\ AppxStaging\ Program Files\ WindowsApps\ MSIXVC\ 1E66A3E7-2F7B-461C-9F46-3EE0AEC64B8C

A big issue seems to be the fact that it literally cannot be found other than on TreeSize. CMD cannot find it (though I may be doing it wrong), I cannot locate it in file explorer with "show hidden" on. With TreeSize itself when I delete it it does disappear but then just reappears when refreshing the scan.

I've deleted the restore points, turned them on/off. I've done the windows reset that keeps personal files, and the one that deletes 'everything' with a clean installation too. Those files and folders still remain.. ;( Surely formatting the C:\ drive would work as my last resort but my W10 is installed on it and I don't have an external usb flash drive that's 8GB to download and boot W10 from atm :S only an old 4gb (use to be enough).

I'd appreciate any possible suggested solutions, even ones I've tried, and will try them and reply ASAP as this is currently all consuming and I hate it. Thanks in advance.

  2. Can't remove 37GB file in MSIXVC folder in WindowsApps directory

I'm trying to free up some space on my drives, and I've run into a problem. In the MSIXVC folder in the WindowsApps directory, there's a 37.4 GB file named 8BBF2763-A1C6-4F1B-96CA-B79DD5FDA4EE that I can't delete. I've given myself permissions, but when
I try to delete the file, it says that it's open in SYSTEM and can't be deleted.

From what I've researched so far this seems to be related to download files from the Microsoft Store, specifically unfinished downloads. In that case, it shouldn't be anything important. Perhaps a game I had installed in the past and for some reason the
download files are still there. I really want this space back. Any help is appreciated.

Another thread suggested using Disk Cleanup and that these would be displayed under Delivery Optimization. No such designation exists in Disk Cleanup.

  3. 45GB of hidden data on my SSD

In this case Donald, this could be an issue with the firmware bugs relating to failure in system. For us to isolate the main issue, we suggest that you scan your PC for viruses and disable the hibernation to reclaim SSD space.

Disabling hibernate mode on your PC will allow you to delete that 45GB file and reclaim valuable disk space. Here's how:

    • Open Command Prompt by typing command prompt.
    • When you see the Command Prompt app pop up, right-click it and then choose
      Run as administrator
      .
    • At the prompt, type the following command powercfg -h off and then press
      Enter.

This command immediately disables hibernate mode. You’ll notice that it’s no longer an option from your shut down menu. If you visit File Explorer again, you’ll see that the hiberfil.sys file has been deleted and all that disk space is yours once again.

If you change your mind and would like to enable hibernate mode again, just revisit the Command Prompt and use this command:
    powercfg -h on.

Let us know if this will help address your concern.
