  1. Cannot delete old/unused user folder from C drive.

Good morning,I recently removed a user profile/account from my PC windows 10 and I no longer see it when logging on to pc however the user folder remains on C drive. I have tried to delete it manually and it starts the process but then stops and tells me that it cannot because it or a file/document within is open somewhere. Obviously this cannot be as I have already deleted the user account but now I cannot delete the user file. Can something be done or do I have to live it?Your help is greatly appreciated.

    :)

User folders in root C: drive

In my new Windows 10, these folders were generated:

    • Intel
    • PerfLogs
    • Program Files
    • Program Files (x86)
    • Users
    • Windows
Is there a policy of users generating new folders in this root C: drive?

On my old W7 PC I had several folders in C:, providing a shorter path for applications.

E.g. Is there an advantage when new Windows software is installed?

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Cannot delete old/unused user folder from C drive. ;)
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

Cannot delete old/unused user folder from C drive.

Deleting an old user's folder in C:\Users

    Hello,

I would like to delete an old user's folder in C:\Users but there is the folder AppData and the file NTUSER.DAT which prevent me from doing so. Is there a solution to this problem (I've also tried taking ownership of the folder, but it doesn't fix my issue)?

    Regards,

    Tommaso
