Windows 10: Cannot delete Photos from Collection

Hi all,


Please help,


I'm trying to delete hundreds of unwanted icon images that have somehow downloaded themselves into Windows Photo's - Collection area. They are icon images probably from Windows or Microsoft of anything really. Such as clocks, logo's, ticks & crosses, rubbish bins or anything that has an icon from an computer screen or application. I keep getting the following message after I try and delete them. They are mixed in with my own photos.


"Couldn't delete,

We couldn't delete one or more of the files. Another app might be using them, or you might not have permission to delete them".


I have not been using another app and have been trying various things with no luck yet. Any idea's on how I can get rid of these unwanted icon photo's, would be helpful?.

How can I control what is in the photo collection?

I understand that you are facing issues with photo app on Windows 10. Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

I suggest you to perform the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Open Photos app.

2. Click on Collections.

3. Then right click on the unwanted pictures in the list and click on
Delete.

Also click on Folder option in Photo app and check the file location of the pictures.

Windows Photo Delete with out confirmation

Hi Janey,

You can delete multiple photo's at once to only get the confirmation once. You can do it with these steps:

• Click a photo and then click View all photos on the upper-left corner of the window.
• Click Collection on the left pane.
• Click the Select icon on the upper-right corner and select all the file that you would want to be removed.
• Press Delete on your keyboard or the Delete icon to delete.

Multiple Photos

We suggest that you follow the steps below to delete the photo through Photos app:

• If you’re looking at your list of photos in Photos app, select the photos by clicking on checkbox on the photos you want to delete. Click
  Delete icon at the bottom right corner to delete.
• If you open a photo, Tap or press Delete
  key from keyboard.
