Windows 10: Cannot delete some weird folder

hie i cannot delete a folder which is occupying around 300 gigs
its named like "7b31b96adb099d631d03e9c5"
if i tried to delete it
i have to change the ownership but cannot do it
it doesnt make me change the ownership


please help

Delete option missing when right click on folder or icon

I do not use Quick access. As posted before is weird is that when right-click on some folders and files I do have the Delete option in the pop-up menu. Even when highlighting a folder and hit the Delete button, nothing happens. Please assist.

I have a similar issue with an external drive by SanDisk. I upgraded from Win8.1 to Win 10 and then Win10Pro. The external drive has the SanDiskSecureAccess enabled. Since I forgot the password the USB cannot re-write anymore. I contacted the vendor and
they said to simply right-click on the folder and delete. However, the right-click option is not even presented in the pop-up menu. I also tried to select the folder and press the Delete button but nothing happened. It's weird that for some other folders
or files including PDF and Word I get the Delete option when right-clicking, but not for the SanDiskSecureAccess Settings. Can you help?

 

Can you be more specific as to where this folder is? Is it in your top level directory such as C:\ or in a subfolder?

What are the contents?

 

I have a partition
It's in G drive

What IS the partition?

If in G Drive, what is that drive used for on the system?

If you double click to open, what is inside?

 

The C drive is used as the system
Where Windows is installed
When I try to open that weird folder
It says to change the ownership of the folder
But when I try it doesn't allow me .

Right click on the folder in G: drive and have a look at Properties. On the security tab you should be able to see what permissions you have and hopefully be able to change them. Post a screenshot as it may help us diagnose the problem.

 

I suspect these are folders that were created when you installed applications. If that you need take ownership. Take Ownership Take Ownership - Add to Context Menu in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Why don't you try saving any other folders or files you want from that drive and then simply re-formatting the partition using Disk Management.

i tried that and many things
but when i tried to copy my data into other partition
the eta is one day
and the transfre speed is dynamic and slow

 

You can change ownership manually, on your screenshot, click on Change and add your username, then check and OK.

Or you can delete it, it seems like a leftover from WinUpdates, though 300GB is a bit excessive, unless you use Insider.
