Windows 10: Cannot Disable or Uninstall Touchpad

It is impossible to disable or even uninstall my touchpad driver. When I uninstalled and restarted, the touchpad was as functional and annoying as ever, except that now all options for updating, rolling back, or uninstalling are now greyed out.


It's almost 2021, and the brain trust at MS has decided, without consulting the people who pay their salaries, that from now on we're just going to have to deal with the constant irritation of active touchpads as we try to type, and that if we don't like it, tough. Of course, such behavior and the attitude at its foundation have been par for the course throughout MS's history, so I can't say I'm much surprised.


So, once again: hey Microsoft, let us disable our touchpads when mice are connected. Or is this simply beyond your capabilities?


PS: As per custom, on the above-referenced thread, MS reps tried to pass the buck and say it's somebody else's fault, so we're not going to go down that road this time, OK?

How to disable the touchpad.

There are a lot of factors for this issue to occur. To
isolate the issue, we have some questions for you:

  Were there any changes made before the issue occur?
  
• 
  What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  

If it is a tablet, the touchpad will not be disabled as a design. For more accurate information, we suggest that
you contact your manufacturer
for further assistance.

Disable touchpad

Hi,

Normally, you can disable the touchpad from Device Manager by follow the steps below:

• Go to Device Manager.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right-click on HID-compliant mouse and select Disable.
• Click Yes.
• Check if the touchpad is already disabled.

You can also contact the device manufacturer for further assistance if touchpad cannot be disabled.

If you wish to disable your touchpad, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below.

• Press Windows Key +X.
• Select Device manager.
• Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right click on Synaptic touchpad driver and select Disable.
• Click OK to confirm and check with the issue.
