cannot edit (or see) parameters in a shortcut any longer

I have a shortcut to a program and pass the program a parameter, e.g.

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Beyond Compare 2\BC2.exe" @Syncit

The shortcut works, however, since windows 10, I find that I cannot edit or even view the full command line using rightclick/properties. In win 10 the shortcut command line is no longer shown in the target field where I could edit it (as I could in say, windows xp ). The info is there, in the .lnk file, and using winhex I can see that info, but it's in a strange format, each character seems to be in 2 bytes, so ever other byte is a zero.

How can i edit the command line part of this shortcut (without having to create a new shortcut)?

    :)

cannot edit (or see) parameters in a shortcut any longer

Is this for all shortcuts or just a particular one? I can edit the Target: field in all the shortcuts I've tried (Fall Creators Update, 1709).

Thanks, should have tried a few but the only ones I needed in win10 were for this one program.

It turns out it's the at sign @ which is causing the problem. Putting that parameter in quotes fixes it.

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Beyond Compare 2\BC2.exe" "@Syncit"

I went back to a win xp system, and it has the same behavior. It had worked there because I needed to quote it to include folder names with spaces. So, it's just something about that @ sign not in quotes that properties doesn't like, though the shortcut will still work.

Ah, that explains it. There are some other 'special' characters that can cause similar problems (% is one, I think).
