Windows 10: Cannot Edit Video Nor Audio Metadata of .mp4 Video Files in Windows 10 64-Bit Version on a...

I have some .mp4 video files that I cannot seem to change the video and audio metadata, which I have downloaded from the Internet, even though I want to change the video and audio metadata because the video and audio metadata is currently blank there meaning that there's no video nor audio metadata right now for them in "Properties" under the "Details" section for the "Description", "Video", "Audio", "Media", "Origin" and "Content" sections; but thereis audio-video metadata for the "File" section!!!! I especially need to change add the resolution [both of the number of pixels in the horizontal widthand vertical height directions] and the bit rate video metadata, as well as the bit rate, the channels and audio sample rate audio metadata; and I desperately,desperately, desperately need step–by–nitty-gritty–step instructions on how to do this and solve this problem of mine, as I'm not a computer/technology wiz! Can/would someone PLEASE HELP ME with this problem of mine????? It would beeternally, greatly appreciated by me if someone can answer this question and thus solve this problem of mine!!!

Cannot edit any metadata in audio and video files

I'm running Windows 10, fully updated. All of a sudden and for no apparent reason, I'm unable to update any metadata/tags for audio and video files. Haven't tried to update metadata for other types of files.

It's very important to me to be able to edit the metadata/tags on audio files so that my 14,000+ audio files organize correctly for playlists, etc., and I like proper metadata on video files as good practice.

Audio files are largely .mp3, and video files are either .mp4 or .wmv.

I have tried Properties > Details on individual files in File Explorer and several tag/metadata editors that have worked great for years. Some tag editors will show the metadata/tags it allegedly saved, but when I go back to File Explorer
they're not there. I have also ensured that the same metadata/tag categories I edited in tag editors display in File Explorer.

I've also tried some suggestions from forums:

• Making sure proper permissions are granted
• Ensuring I'm signed in to Microsoft
• Copying a file and trying to edit the copy's metadata/tags
• Copying the files to new and existing other folders and trying to edit
• Ensuring the files are not read-only

Any ideas on what could have made the metadata/tags uneditable all of a sudden, and more importantly how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

 

No Audio For MP4 Video Files

This error may occur if the MP4 file is corrupted. For us to better assist you, we would like to ask the following:

• Is there an error message displayed about audio when opening or playing MP4 video files?
• Have you made any recent changes on your computer prior to the issue?

How to add more information to a video file or .mp4 file?

Hi, just considering tagging - the metadata or textual info attached to a file + cover art.. whilst mp3tag will handle mp4's, in general it is an audio tagger so does not support video file formats in general.

There are suggestions here for programs that support tagging for videos:

It could be worth looking at Xnview which I used a while back, but not for tagging.

I'd guess that having tagged a file you consider right clicking the column headings in explorer, and adding appropriate columns there. However, you are then restricted to a details view.

I don't know a way of restricting the info shown for a given folder in the Details pane.
