Windows 10: Cannot eject external USB 3 hard disk after a while, so annoying

hi guys

so this is starting to get to my nerves.... after a few hours that you use the PC with the external usb 3 plugged on, win10 would not hear it and not let you eject it properly. if i do try lets say after 10-15 mins only it works fine. it seems that once defender drags its claws onto the hdd it doesn't let it go easily!

I went to event viewer and there you have it eVERY time is windows defender. - i tried to disable the scan on external drives as well, even though could be a bit of a risk but doesn't even work.

Event viewer:
Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\4.18.2006.10-0\MsMpEng.exe with process id 5860 stopped the removal or ejection for the device USB\VID_

how can you fix it? even by a restart it works only 2 times out of 10, and dont really want to shut down but remove the hard disk and save its life without having it connected ALL the time. makes sense?

I am on 1909 64 bit
Version 10.0.18363.959

Problem ejecting hard disk

Hi

I have been using my laptop for 2 years now

And I have an external hard disk I was even using that for a while now on my computer

But recently when I plugged in my hard disk and after using it when I clicked on eject

This message poped up

The application\device\harddiskvolume3\windows\system32\searchindexer.exe is preventihg this device from being stopped. Close the applicatian and then try to stop the device again.

After that I thought it's a virus so in the evening I purchased an antivirus software and scanned the hard disk and dint even used it dint opened any folder from that hard disk after the scan was completed I again rejected the hard disk but same message
appeared

I even tried few more methods of ejecting it but same message kept on popping up

And after ejecting manually I was using my computer and after a while I face a blue screen

With a code : kernel_mode_heap_corruption

What should I do

Is it a malware?

PartitionGuru is able to format the USB drive in batch automatically, during which it eject USB flash drives after formatting is completed. Let's see how to eject USB devices using PartitionGuru.

Step 1 Launch PartitionGuru and you can see the device you want to remove.

Step 2 Select that disk and click menu "Disk" to choose "Safely Eject Disk".

Step 3 Unplug the disk after PartitionGuru ejects it.
