  2. How to enable the built-in microphone when I plug in my headset

Hello OmSanti, my name is Irisdiel and I am an independent advisor.

I suggest you follow the instructions and methods down below.

    Method 1:

Open the Realtek HD Audio Manager. In the upper-right hand corner, there is a button "Device advanced settings." There are two options: (a) "Tie up the same type of input jacks, i.e., line-in microphone, as an input device." and (b) "Separate all input jacks
as independent devices." You need to change the option to the second one, separate all input jacks.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to perform the task mentioned below to set the Microphone as the default device and then enable it.

    1. Press windows key + X, and click on Control Panel.

    2. Click in Sound, then a new window will open up.

    3. In the new windows click on the tab "Recording” and right-click in the window and click on Show Disabled devices.

    4. Now check if the microphone is listed there and highlight the microphone and click on "Set as Default" device.

    5. Now right click on it and choose Enable.

Doing this will enable the built-in Microphone.

Check if the issue persists now.

    Method 3:

Left click the sound icon in the taskbar.

Select the sound device in the drop-down menu.

    Choose the connected headset.

    Re-installing drivers

Head to Device Manager, uninstall the drivers for the connected headset. Reboot the PC and connect the headset once again to let Windows reinstall them.

Suggestion: Make sure you use the right ports

    Hope this helps!

    Thank you and good luck,

    Regards- .

headphones microphone changes to microphone array when connected when i want to use the built in microphone

Thank you for letting me know, Neon!

Apologies for the confusion. So, your headphone's built-in mic is not working, and therefore you want to use your HP All-in-One computer's built-in mic instead. Is that correct?

If so, please follow these steps:

    > First, plug in your headphone device.

    > Go to Settings > System > Sound.

    > In Sound settings, go to Input. In the Choose your input device list, select Microphone Array (this is your computer's built-in mic).

Make sure to plug in your headphones first before setting the input to Microphone Array, as it will revert to the headphone mic by default otherwise.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Built-in Microphone

    Hi KarenJenkins3,

My name is Lee and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Which settings have you tried so far?

Have you check Privacy settings and make sure Zoom is allowed? Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone > Look for Zoom and make sure it's ON

You may also want to check Settings > System > Sound > Input and make sure the Microphone Bar is moving when you are speaking. If not, select the Troubleshoot button, select the drop down box for Input and select a Microphone hardware, also click on Manage sound devices and make sure Microphone is enabled.

If all of those settings are properly set and same issue persist, kindly check Windows Update because it is possible that there are pending driver update and it could be one of that is for the Microphone driver.

If my suggestion did not solve the issue, please reply back so we can try other step.

    Kind Regards,
