Windows 10: Cannot enable touchscreen and it is not available in Device Manager

Just purchased a new Lenovo X1 and the touchscreen worked the first day but now it does not work. I have access the device manager to try and enable it, but it does not exist there. What are some possible ways to have the touchscreen driver appear so I can enable it?

Enable Touchscreen on Windows 10

I do not use the Touchscreen for personal reasons, so when I purchased my HP laptop I disabled it when I customized the settings. That was a few years ago.

I now need the Touchscreen to create an electronic signature, but cannot find it in the Device Manager, which is where all suggestions are pointing me.

When I open up Human Interface Devices, there are only 4 items listed, and none of them state Touchscreen. Here is what's listed: HID-compliant consumer control device; HID-compliant wireless radio controls; HP Wireless Button Driver; and USB Input Device.

Is it possible that the Touchscreen enable/disable selection is somewhere else?

To enable touchscreen on your device, follow the steps below.

• 
  Go to Device Manager (Right click Start Menu and select Device Manager).
  
• 
  Look for "Human Interface Devices."
  
• 
  Right click "HID-compliant touch screen"
  
• 
  Click Enable.

There could be a number of factors as to why you are experiencing touchscreen issue. One possible cause could be an outdated driver. I would like to know more about your concern. Kindly verify the changes made on the computer prior to the issue.

Meanwhile, you have to make sure that touchscreen is enabled. To do this, follow the steps below:

• In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, then select
  Device Manager.
  
• Expland Human Interface Devices and select HID-compliant
  touch screen.
  
• Select the Action tab at the top of the window. Select
  Enable.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. To do this, refer to the steps below:

• On the Start menu, type Troubleshoot and then hit
  Enter.
  
• Under Find and fix other problems, select Hardware and Devices. Click
  Run as administrator.
