Cannot find file when elevating application from DFS mounted share

I can't figure this out for the life of me but I'm prepared to accept that this is something dumb that I've managed to overlook...

    Environment:

VMware Horizon running Windows 10 1607 (LTSB). Folder Redirection is enabled and maps to %HOMESHARE%\[Folder]. All users have home shares enabled via ActiveDirectory and they are DFS shares.

    Problem:

When attempting to install an application from the network share an error is displayed:

    Windows cannot access \\dfspath.mydomain.com\Users\u201\me\Downloads\7z1900.exe

    Error Code: 0x80070002

The system cannot find the file specified.

If I look in the SMBClient logs in event viewer I see:

The SMB client failed to connect to the share.

    Error: {Access Denied}

A process has requested access to an object, but has not been granted those access rights.

    Path:\\share.mydomain.com\Users

    Troubleshooting Performed:

    I've tried this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3035277/mapped-drives-are-not-available-from-an-elevated-prompt-when-uac-is-co

I have validated that I can see my network drive from both a standard and elevated command prompt. Strangely, if I run the installer through the elevated command prompt it actually runs (hwat?). That's my workaround for now but I'd love for this to work through explorer and I'm not entirely certain why it doesn't... If I disable UAC, this also works but I'd rather not because security.

    :)

    DFS Shares issues when undocking

    Hi,

I am having an issue with some new computers on windows 10. We have our file shares on a server linked via DFS. If a user is docked to their station and connected via Ethernet everything is working fine. As soon as they unplug from the station and the computer
swaps to wifi, all of the DFS files and connections disappear. This happens basically instantly at the moment they disconnect from ethernet.

Trying to access the DFS share from the run prompt says it can't find it. If the user restarts, unplugged, everything will show back up. Obviously restarting every time someone goes to a meeting etc is unsustainable. My guesses are this has something to
do with Windows 10 swapping from Wired to Wireless internet connection but I am not too sure. This all works fine on Windows 7, also It doesn't seem to matter the device. I have a dell lattitude 7480 that it happens on as well as a Surface Pro 4.

Any help in diagnosing this issue would be greatly appreciated so my users can be mobile more easily!

    Microsoft DFS Folder Access Issue

    Hi,

I am migrating DFS name space from Windows 2003 to Windows 2016 in Stand alone DFS with Cluster Environment.

I am facing issue that after creating DFS name space role in windows 2016 that Folder - Folder access through \\DFSNameSpace\Shared Folder\DFS links or Shares

I am expecting that DFS Name space can be accessed like \\DFSNameSpace\DFS links or Shares. This way I am able to access in windows 2003.
