  1. Cannot get into bios (Asus maximus hero VII)

I am trying to get into the bios on my windows 10 system with a hero vii but whenever I restart and then hold del my screens are just black, my pc is running and nothing happens, nothing comes on the screen. If I restart and don't press anything it goes into windows 10 normally.

Any idea how to fix this? Specs: Deep space 9 | Core i7 4770k @ 3.8, GTX 670 SLI, 16 Gb of g.skill ripjaws, Asus maximus VI Hero, Samsung 840 pro 256 gb, WD Caviar black 2 tb, Corsair HX 850

    Thanks.

    :)

After installing the anniversary update, it reverted to the previous version of Windows.

Im using an ethernet cable and i've tried everything but nothing seems to work. I have an ASUS Maximus VII Hero motherboard, and pretty much all of us are using ASUS, coincidence?

Cannot get into bios (Asus maximus hero VII)

Most times when the prompt to press F2, Del or another key becomes visible on the screen [depends upon the BIOS] I just repetitively start pressing that key, not holding it down.

  5. Hi Berton, I tried to tap the del key but that didn't work. When I do that it again goes into a state where the computer is running but the 3 monitors I have connected to the pc are just off and receiving no input.

I should also note that I never see the boot screen when booting it just starts up and within 10 seconds its at the windows 10 login screen.

Do you think my multiple monitors could be a problem to get into the bios?

You need to follow the directions at http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...s_Vii_Hero.pdf for how to enter using the Del. key. There is nothing wrong with your computer. You are just too slow in getting the system to accept the key press. It is not just a press and release.

    See 3-2 regarding the Bios.

  7. Bro67 what doesn't make sense to me, is that if I was too slow in getting to the bios, wouldn't the pc simply go to the windows 10 login screen rather than hang at black screens with literally nothing happening requiring me to do a hard restart?

In the past to get in the bios I would simply hold the del key or tap it at the beginning and it would go in easily. This is not the case anymore.

If you have a wireless keyboard, try a wired one.

  9. I have wired Nigel.

I should mention that my pc has been experiencing lockups lately. I posted the crash dumps and you can see more details in my other thread. I think something is seriously wrong. I unfortunately cannot test the ram since i cant get into the bios to set the usb as first to boot.

Thanks for the help though. I hope to fix all of these issues.

If Fast Boot is enabled this might prevent you entering the BIOS. You can enter UEFI BIOS settings from Windows by holding down the Shift key whilst selecting Restart or from the Recovery Options in PC Settings. See https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5...dows-10-a.html

At the risk of being obvious, have you tried resetting your bios using the button on your motherboard?

When you boot from a cold start do you hear the post beep and do you see the Asus Starting screen. If you see the Asus start screen, start tapping the Delete key to get into BIOS or the F8 key for the one time boot menu screen. If you hear the beep but not the Asus Startup screen, start tapping the key after you hear the beep.

For some reason no one suggested the obvious so far.

It is very likely that your computer actually successfully enters the BIOS, but you simply can't see it on any of your monitors, since BIOS output goes somewhere else. Which graphics subsystem is used by default before OS boots is usually controlled inside BIOS settings.

Firstly, as you yourself guessed, without a shred of doubt, the first thing to do would be to disconnect all monitors except one.

Secondly, connect that one remaining monitor to the most "basic" video connector in your system. If your motherboard has integrated video - try that one first. If it doesn't work - try other outputs one by one.

  14. Doing this brings up this screen:
Cannot get into bios (Asus maximus hero VII) [IMG]

I am not sure how I then get into the bios from there. Start up settings doesn't seem to have anything relevant.

I have not tried this. Where is that button I see a reset button below the power button on the motherboard itself near the top (where the number/letter light is), is that the button your talking about. I think its not because I thought that was just a normal reset button.

I do not hear a post beep or the asus start screen.

Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it. Hope I can fix this.

  15. Just tried this, used the DVI monitor and disconnected the rest, same issue. If I leave it alone it boots into windows 10 quickly with no problems on just 1 monitor. If I hold del or tap it, it will just go to a state where the PC is on, the code on the motherboard is 'A0' which is the normal code when the pc is in windows. And there is nothing on the display and the monitor basically says its getting no output to it if you try to turn it on from sleep.

Also my system has no on board video card. Only SLI gtx 670s. All monitors are connected to 1 card. I wonder if disabling SLI then trying this would fix the problem?
