Windows 10: Cannot install apps even after changing settings in Advanced app settings

Hello there. I have been trying to install a sound equaliser app on my Windows 11 laptop. When I click on the executable file, I get a Windows warning stopping me from installing the app. I researched online and read that if I go into Settings > Apps > Advanced App Settings > Choose Where to get apps > Anywhere. I have made this change, rebooted my laptop, and tried to install the app again, but Windows will not let me. What am I doing wrong? Can anyone help me?Kind RegardsPeter

To access advanced settings for default apps in Windows 11, you can follow these steps:

1. Open Windows Settings by pressing Windows + I on your keyboard or by right-clicking the Start button and selecting "Settings" from the menu.

2. In Settings, click on Apps in the sidebar.

3. Then select Default Apps on the right side of the window.

From there, you can choose defaults by file type or by app. For example, to change the default app for a specific file type, you can enter the file extension in the search box and select it from the list of results. Then, choose which app you want to open that file type with.

If you want to change the default settings on a per-app basis, find the app you want to change the default settings for in the list of installed apps, click the three vertical dots to the right of it, and then select Advanced settings.

Desktop HTML shortcuts being listed in Apps under settings?

A friends Win 10 installation is listing Desktop HTML shortcuts under Apps in the Setting App listing. Seems to have happened after he downloaded and installed a program in support of some two way radio equipment. System Restore does not correct the problem. Suggestions appreciated.

 

Setting Default Apps in the Settings app doesn't work

I have the same problem but I would like to set the Iron browser to default. I can set any browser when using set default by apps but SRware Iron does not even show up on the apps list. It is installed. I even reinstalled it as someone else suggested.
Why is this the only browser that I cannot set as default.
