    Cannot join HomeGroup

I have two computers, my desktop and my laptop which is a Lenovo T520 Thinkpad. My laptop is connected to a D-Link Smart switch via Cat 7 which is connected to my router as well as my desktop. I originally created a Home group on my desktop and then went to Home group on my laptop, it sates that my desktop has created a homegroup on the network and I click on "Join Now". I type in the password and click next. It the tells me I have joined the homegroup. If I go to file explorer and click on Homegroup on my laptop, It tells me that "No other homegroup PC's are available right now". If I Check my desktop, it shows my Homegroup. I've checked my router to insure the mac address and the ip address are the same as identified in "ipconfig /all" for my laptop and it is, the router is seeing my laptop. For some reason my laptop will not configure homegroup with my desktop. I don't know if the version of windows makes a difference, I'm running Win 10 pro on both but the version and build are different. My Desktop is version 1607 (build 14393.51) and my laptop is version 151 (build 10586.545). I'm lost. Can anyone give me some idea what might be going on and how to fix it? Thanks for your help in advance

    :)

It asks to Join the Home group after upgrading to Windows 10 even after configuring the Home group before upgrading the PC.

I recently loaded Windows 10 over Windows 7. When I try to connect to the homegroup the homegroup option only allows for "Join Now" then asks for the "password" The problem is the PC the homegroup was started on is the PC I am on. I cannot get the password.
So, the PC I need to join the homegroup on is the on Windows said started the homegroup and I cannot get the password. THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS allowed except join the homegroup on this PC.

So How do I correct this very frustrating problem?

  3. Homegroup logic loop

I am trying to join homegroup and not connected to a domain network. this is purely a network within my home, which, as laready stated, was working perfectly well until the update on the machine that originally created the homegroup. This is the machine
which now tells me that I need to join the workgroup set up on that machine and will not accept the password.

I have looked at the article and there is no option anywhere in homegroup to create, just the option to join. I occasionally get a message telling me that 'homegroup cannot be created on this machine' and this happens after atempting to join and 20 minutes
of waiting for it to validate the password which was created on the machine telling me to join the homegroup that it cannot join/create. If that makes any sense

    Cannot join HomeGroup

I have found the tutorials here on the Homegroup topic , how to join, how to leave etc. I have followed the tutorial on How to join the homegroup to the letter and I still get "No other homegroup PC's are available right now". I also have checked in the "Services" for the following items: DNS Client
    Function Discovery Provider Host
    Function Discovery Resource Publication
    HomeGroup Listener
    HomeGroup Provider
    Network List Service
    Peer Networking Grouping Server
    SSDP Discovery
    UPnP Device Host

on both computers and they are all running. I'm nor really familiar with this stuff but if I check Network Connections and right click on Ethernet (Network) I see connection>IPv4 Connectivity: Internet, IPv6 Connectivity: NO network access. Should IPv6 Connectivity be working? Like I said, I'm not familiar with this so I don't know. I'm trying to give as much information as I can. I would upload screenshots but for some reason, at one time I was in another forum and uploaded 5 screenshots now it won't let me upload any more and I have no idea how to either delete the other screenshots or how to be able to upload more.
