    I'm trying to run a video game, but I keep encountering an error: the system cannot locate certain C++ files with the extension .msi .Error message 1:The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.     Visual C++ Redistributable wants msi file to uninstall

    Hi, i hope you're doing good today.

    Maybe an older version of Microsoft Visual C++ is blocking the installation. We suggest uninstalling all Microsoft Visual C++ from the control panel before trying to install the new MS Visual C++. Follow the steps below:

    Open Control Panel.

    Click Programs, then click Programs and Features.

    Locate All Microsoft Visual C++, then click Uninstall in all of them.

    After uninstalling the program, try to install the version that you're having the problem again.

    C windows installer folder - Delete?

    He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink Cannot locate or uninstall old C++ files ;)
    Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
    First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
    Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

    Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

    Vista Ultimate - 'User' Folder Location

    No tried that.

    Can copy the entire folder to D; but Windows still points to C as the location. Can change personal folders location to a folder on D;, but this still leaves hidden files etc on C;. Thus meaning there are 2 Users folders. Have managed to change the Public folder location to D;, with some registry tweaks, but this doesnt seem to work for the entire folder.

    any more suggestions
