Windows 10: cannot log in to windows 10 - help

when I turn on my pc and click on the mouse the password box doesn't appear.

a couple days ago everything was fine, but then it wouldn't accept my password,so I clicked on the "forgot my password" link and was emailed a notification on resetting it. I was able to log in OK for a day or so, but then I had to reset my password again, and it worked until later that day I restarted my computer. Now, when I start up, I do not even get the box when I click to enter my password. I have an HP laptop Pavilion which was purchased January 2016.

Is there a fix for this?

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps:

Steps: Using Command Prompt

1. Open administrative Command Prompt and type the following command:

2. Hit Enter, restart the computer.

3. Using Local Users and Groups window

4. Press Windows Key + R, typelusrmgr.msc, click OK.

5. Now click Group section, right click on
Administrator and pick Add to Group.

6. Then in following window, click Add.

7. Then in Select Users window, click on
Object Types.

8. Now in the following window, select Users and
uncheck other options. Click OK.

9. After clicking OK, we’re back to
Select Users window. Now click on Advanced.

10. On this window, click Find Now. From
Search Results, look for the user name not appearing on logon screen / Start Screen user name drop down menu. Click
OK. Again click OK.

11. Reboot your system and check if you are able to see other user account.

Desperate need help - cannot switch back to log-in that has admin authority

I don't know how it happened, I spent a couple of days setting up our laptop with Windows 10, office 365/16 and everything was fine. I created a login for my wife and - when we rebooted it would only allow a login for my wife's login -- who did not have
admin rights. Under Windows\users my login directory is there, but it does NOT allow me to sign in as anyone other than my wife.

I did try [ctl]+[alt]+[del] and chose switch users - but it does not show my login anywhere. I cant even do a restore from backup because my wife's login does not have admin rights to use the backup utility. Please - ANY suggestions are welcome and desperately
needed

 

Welcome to the forum. When it get to the log inscreen press control alt and delete does that bring up the password box?

 

Repair install. Unless you are needing Microsoft to connect you to One Drive or the 365 Cloud, just use the standard log in. Do any other computers or devices have issues connecting to the internet?

 

control alt delete worked. I’m doing a full system scan before I close and hope it restarts normally

 

Are you at the Lock Screen (see attached)? If so, you press the Enter key to get the Password screen.
