Cannot log in using my local account, all "fixes" fail

I'm running 64-bit Windows 10 Pro, version 1909, OS Build 18363.592 When I booted up my desktop a few days ago, using the same local account and password I've used for a very long time, the login failed without explanation. (BTW: My login settings are such that the login page shows all active accounts I can choose from, which in my case are merely (1) Administrator, and (2) the local user account in question.) So when I booted up next time, I chose to login using that Admin account. That's when everything started going to hell. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with my main account, and running SFC and DISM and Kaspersky AV did not identify or solve the problem. So as many tech support sites recommend, I created a new local user and logged in using that new account successfully. I can't recall in any detail the subsequent events until I decided to delete the new temp user account and associated files. What I didn't and still don't understand is why that this operation also deleted each and every file in my main local user folder! I want to restore that user folder from a backup clone, but not until I can log in again with that main account. It is this that I'm finding to be apparently impossible. I created a new local account with Admin privileged using the old name, but for whatever reason, it did not create the required folder under C:\Users, so I created it myself. I didn't expect that alone to fix my problem, and of course it didn't. So I turned to searching the web for "Can't login using local account" and variations thereof, and tried every purported "fix" on the rare page that wasn't plagiarized from the rest (I was shocked by how blatant the plagiarizing was on this topic!) Anyway, none of proposed solutions worked. May I respectfully ask for more informed help? Don't worry if I need to perform technically difficult operations to fix this -- I know my way around, more or less. Thanks!

    :)

  2. Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are
    • Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
    • No Internet connection during the install
    • static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

Just go back to using a local account:

Hopefully the tutorials are step by step enough.

    Log out of local account

    Hi,

Logging in an account to the Windows Store will automatically bound your local account with your Microsoft account. You can log in to the

    web version of the WindowsStore
instead to prevent this issue from recurring. To log out an account of the Windows Store, kindly follow these steps:

    • Open Windows Store.
    • Click your account icon beside the Search box.

    • Click Sign out.

Now, proceed in removing your Microsoft account and password by following these steps:

    • Go to Settings>Account>Your email and accounts.
    • Click Sign in with a local account instead and follow the on-screen instructions.
    • After setting up the new local account, go back to Settings>Account>Your email and accounts.
    • Select your email account and click Remove.

Should you have more concerns, feel free to post.

    Regards.
