Windows 10: Cannot login following update to K5048685

Hi I updated my laptop to Windows 11 32H2 KB5048685. Following the update when I restarted the laptop I was unable to log in using the pin code I have been using. I can' t remember the exact error but it was to do with being offline. Connecting to the internet did not resolve the issue there was still an error with the PIN Which was correct. I ended up creating another account with my work 365 credentials. I now cannot find the original account to try to resolve the original issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool which fixes the Windows corruption error if there are any. Follow the steps:

  Press Windows+X.
  
• 
  Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type the command DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  and hit Enter.
