Windows 10: Cannot login onedrive, cannot run settings, cannot search and the start button is not working

About midnight one of my win11 system unexpectedly rebooted, startup repair failed and safe mode did not show any obvious problem. I picked a restore point and picked March 25, 2025 2 days ago, before the neighborhood wide power failure. the restore claimed to have worked. All seemed ok but about 10 minutes later the PC rebooted and when I logged in I read that the restore did not work. Since thenBoth MRT and the offline virus scan shows no problems. Memory test is ok. SFC and DISM show no problemsI cannot enter any text in the win11 search bar. The windows key does not work. clicking

Start Button displaying but not working


The start button was working until there was a forced reboot (power failure). Then left click (normal click) over the start button does absolutely nothing. Right click brings up a menu but "programs" and also "settings" are missing and not included on this list. Search or Task View buttons do not work either with "normal" click. Does anyone have any suggestion or fixes?

Are the following steps able to work? Or same issue?

Select the Start button, search for “OneDrive”, and then open it:

When OneDrive Setup starts, enter your personal account, or your work or school account, and then select Sign in.

If that does not work I would suggest trying to repair the onedrive app.

To do this you can:

Open Settings > Apps

Search for onedrive

Click on onedrive and then select "advanced options"

Then select Reset

After this try to login again.

Start button and search bar not working

Problem that start button and search do not work has NOT been resolved. I have tried the steps suggested in previous answers but this has not worked. Altogether very frustrating and a big turn off to my opinion of Windows 10. HELP!
