  1. Cannot mount NAS in windows 10 explorer

    Good morning all,

Usually I don't ever post anything - google seems to solve it for me. But this time every solution has failed.

Hardware: Dlink DNS-320 Nas, running most current firmware, Acer Iconia W700i running the most upto date Windows 10 Home x64 (problem is also mirrored on wife's laptop).

The problem: When I go to mount my NAS drive I get the error message: "\\NAS\Volume_1 is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. .... The local security authority database contains an internal inconsistency" If I then go to mount it anyway (using different credentials) the credentials box pops up for a second time with no error, then the third time gives me: "The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password .... disconnect any existing mappings to this network share".

I can't remember which commands I used in cmd (as administrator) but I was able to see, access, even mount the NAS drive, but once I had mounted it to a specific drive letter, it was still not accessible through windows explorer.

If I type \\192.168.0.100 (ip of my NAS) in the run prompt, I can see the shares but get the same error when I click on them.

The NAS shows up as a media device (DLNA) in windows explorer and I can access my music through it.

Attempted solutions: I have tried all the following solutions which give me the same errors shown above:
    • Logged on using a local account rather than microsoft account
    • Turned off Windows firewall
    • Under TCP/IP V4 on adapter properties, set Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
    • Changed the MTU of my adapter to a lower setting

    Other information:
    • I can log on using the web interface
    • My phone can map, and connect to it, using android's file commander
    • When I was running Windows 7 on other machines, they mapped fine
    • When I was running 8.1 on this machine it ran fine
    • We've recently got a new router, although this did work through it and I am accessing it locally so shouldn't make a difference

Thanks for taking your time to read, please help this has been driving me crazy! *Mad

    Joe

    :)

  2. RickSykes Win User

mapped network drive does not remount at logon

Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 8.1

Mapped shared folders from NAS drive do not remount at logon. Also logon.bat file run from Samba does not mount the same drive as it did in 8.1 and previous versions. I can mount the shared folders both from the command line (using same commands as logon.bat) and
    from explorer in windows 10.

  3. Only one network folder can be added to quick access

I've just installed Win10 and are exploring it a bit. In the Explorer I have removed from Quick Access those folders that I don't use, and try to add those that are frequently used. Those are stored on a NAS, which is mounted as a drive in the Explorer.
I can add only one folder of this drive - and also of the NAS - in Quick Access. Anybody familiar with this and know an solution? Thx.

  4. Cannot mount NAS in windows 10 explorer

    Quick update:

Using netuse (as admin) I am able to mount the drive and explore its contents no problem, but of course this doesn't map to a drive under my user.

Using netuse (as my user) it throws up the error: The local security database contains an internal inconsistency.

This thing is really bothering me now, please help *Sad

  5. Hi and thanks for your reply, have tried but to no avail! I assume you don't need a restart after updating registry?
I have now removed the registry key.

  6. Yes you need a restart to implement the registry change.

  7. Cannot mount NAS in windows 10 explorer

    Nope *cry

Restarting didn't solve it either. It also doesn't explain why it used to work when I first upgraded but doesn't now.

Thanks though, any more suggestions keep throwing them my way.

  8. Quick update,

Managed to map the NAS drive on my Ubuntu homeserver, my android can see this share aswell, windows is still refusing to acknowledge its existence, even with the regedit trick.

Please, please, please, if anyone has anything I haven't tried please let me know, I'm desperate!

  9. "The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password", when trying to connect to a drive remotely. "

    "
I receive this error message even though Explorer does not show that the server or share is mapped at all.
If you use "net use" from a cmd prompt, you can see all of the drives that are connected, even the ones that do not show in Windows. Use "net use /delete \\server\share" to remove the connection."

    Worth a try?

  11. Berton Win User
I use Win7/8.1/10, Mac OS X and Linux to access my 2 NAS drives but mapped the Public Folder on them instead of the drive themselves. The drives show in Network but the Public Folders show under Computer.

  13. Snakeyes Win User
this question might sound crazy, but are you using password to login?

  14. There's no such thing as a crazy question, but yeh I am using a password. Have deleted all users off my NAS, and shares, and added only the one user now (same username and password as my windows accound).
