Windows 10: Cannot Open %appdata% from Run Window Windows Key + R

So I go into my Appdata/Roaming folder frequently for changing settings in games. Recently for some reason this is no longer working.The main issue that I have is that it will show a prompt to "open in an application". It does NOT just open File Explorer immediately anymore. What I did find weird is that if it type just "appdata" in that search field, it brings me to the Appdata folder. But it does not bring me to the Roaming folder right away like %appdata% does.Not sure what I did to my computer that is causing this. I have no idea where to start. I understand that you are facing issues while accessing AppData after installing NOX player, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve
the issue.



Let’s see if the path for AppData is assigned correctly. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below:



1.
Press
Windows + S keys together to open Search.

2.
Now type
CMD, right click on it and select Run as administrator

3.
Accept the
UAC prompts

4.
Type in the command and hit
Enter: set appdata

5.
Check if the path shown is correct



Once you check the path from the above steps, check is if the registry settings for AppData is set correctly.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for ‘Run’.
2. In Run dialog box, type ‘regedit’ and hit Enter.
3. On the left hand pane navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
4. On the right hand pane look for AppData
   String value key
5. Make sure the value is
   %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
6. Restart the PC.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
